Admission Washington County School District - Adopted 8-79
To provide policies for the expected length of the school day for all students in Washington County School District.
2.1. KindergartenThe kindergarten program is a half-day program and must be held at least two and one-half hours to qualify as a day of school.
2.2. Elementary School
The elementary school is a full-day program and must be held at least four and one-half hours for grade one, and must be held at least five and one-half hours for grades two through twelve to qualify as a day of school. These time blocks are to be exclusive of lunch periods.
2.3. Secondary School
The secondary school is a full-day program and must be held at least five and one-half hours, exclusive of lunch periods, to qualify as a day of school.
2.4. Variances (K-12)
2.4.1. An exception may be made in the length of the school day for certain students with unusual problems at the discretion of the local Board of Education. The time these children should spend in school may be established in view of their particular needs.2.4.2. Certain extraordinary circumstances, such as new building construction or other extreme circumstances, may make it desirable to request variance from the standard length of the school day. Under such circumstance, written application for variance may be made to the State Board of Education.
