1410 Employee Service Recognition and Awards

1. Purpose

To recognize the dedicated service of both certified and classified employees of the Washington County School District.

2. Policy:

2.1. Service Recognition: The District will develop procedures to acknowledge employee length of service contributions at 10, 20, 25, and 30 years.

2.2. Employee Performance Awards: The Superintendent will develop procedures to acknowledge superior employee performance.

2.3. Retirement Recognition: District will present a memento to employees who retire with at least 5 years of service. (e.g. an engraved bell)


3. Procedure:

3.1. Length of Service Recognition: The District will:
3.1.1. Acknowledge 10 years of service by providing a certificate of appreciation for presentation to employees by school principals or managers. 

3.1.2. Acknowledge 20 years of service before the Board of Education by a presentation from the Board.

3.1.3. Acknowledge 25 years of service at the March School Board meeting by presentation of a framed and inscribed photograph of the employee. 

3.1.4. Acknowledge 30 years of service by presentation of a plaque at a dinner in April of each year. Board of Education, District Administration, and President(s) of Association(s) will be invited to attend the dinner. 

3.2. Employee and Volunteer Performance Recognition:

3.2.1. Superintendent's Award for Excellence: The Superintendent will designate two schools each month to provide a nomination for consideration. Awards will be presented by the Board. The award will consists of a plaque, certificate, and a check (based on funding availability). 

3.2.2. Volunteer of the Month Award: The Superintendent will designate two schools each month to provide a nomination for consideration. Awards will be presented by the Board. The award will consists of a plaque, certificate, and a check (based on funding availability). 

3.2.3. Other Awards: Other performance awards may be developed as needed to recognize outstanding employee achievement. Examples of these types of awards include: 

3.2.3.1. Technology Awards presented for excellence in service in the area of technology. Nominations will be provided to the Superintendent each month.
