Policies:
1200 3.2.7 Health Insurance Benefits - Lyle Cox
1200 3.2.7.1 Health Insurance Benefits - Lyle Cox
This updates our policy on Health Insurance Benefits for part-time
employees who were grandfathered in at the time eligibility was
modified.
1421 Workplace Violence - Lyle Cox
New Policy to address legal issues of workplace violence. Mr. Cox
will check to make sure language is compliant with the Utah code.
Preschool Name Change to Early Childhood Special Education - Kristy Andrews
Kristy Andrews indicated that the Preschool is more than a preschool.
It provides services for students with learning disabilities.
The name change to Early Childhood Special Education would help
create awareness in the community.
Physical Facilities - Phil Williams
Mr. Williams indicated that of the 30 projects started before school,
50% are completed. There should be no problems in starting
school. The contractor for Tonaquint Intermediate did an awesome
job. There is a problem relative to the steel work shortage at
Desert Hills High School and the preschool, but we have been ahead of
schedule on most work. Heritage Elementary is right on target.
INFORMATION ITEM
The need for lights at the baseball field and tennis court of the new
high school was brought up. In the past, the city has paid for
them so the fields are available for public use. It was reported
that the city has lost their funding to pay for them. The
District will need to pay for them. Craig Hammer will check with
the city to see about setting up a partnership agreeement to complete
the work. Phil Williams will proceed with planning.

Adopted 07-08 Budget
Brent Bills reviewed the adopted 07-08 Budget and tax rate changes.
Member Seegmiller presented a motion to approve the adopted 07-08 budget as presented.
Member Blake seconded the motion that passed unanimously.
Preschool Name Change to Early Childhood Special Eduation
Member Morris presented a motion to approve the name change from Preschool to Early Childhood Special Education. Member Christiansen seconded the motion that passed unanimously.
Enterprise High School Remodel
Phil Williams explained the updated remodel plans for Enterprise
High School. The plan includes remodeling the gym, vocational
program rooms, storage for school equipment, and relocation of
greenhouse.
Member Gubler presented a motion to
approve the plan of expansion for Enterprise High School. Member
Hesson seconded the motion that passed unanimously.
Hurriane High School Property
Member Christiansen presented a motion to approve looking into aquiring land for a new high school in Hurricane.
Member Seegmiller seconded the motion that passed unanimously.
County Library Easement at Washington Elementary Site
Member Seegmiller presented a motion to approve the County Library
Easement at Washington Elementary site as agreed with the county to pay
1/2 on drive. Member Gubler seconded the motion that passed
unanimously.

Member Hesson presented a motion to approve policy 1200 3.7 Paid Practicum for Administrators and Counselors.

RECOGNITIONS
Utah's National Distinguished Principal 2007-2008 - Kathy Petersen, Santa Clara Elementary
Utah Counselor of the Year - Lina Allen, LaVerkin Elementary
REPORTS
1. Superintendent.
Superintendent Rose stated that
things went well with the New Teacher Induction. He feels good
about the new staff hired and that we have some great new additions to
staff and faculties. He is looking forward to starting school
tomorrow and is feeling positive about the upcoming year. He
mentioned that Lyle Cox does a great job getting the right personnel.
2. Board.
President Christiansen also felt that
the New Teacher Induction was really positive and a great start to
school this year.
Member Hesson reported briefly on the Legislative Conference.
3. Associations.
Kathleen Wagner introduced the new WCEA
Executive Board to the School Board. Also present were Edyth Lang
and Teresa Bulow. They expressed their appreciation at being
involved in the New Teacher Orientation. They briefly discussed
information about the referendum and encouraged all to get out and
vote. Mentioned some information on trainings that Association
plans to host.
